Ziff Martini
I picked this up in an Art auctionSo sick. It wasn't quite as expensive as listed here but that is the appraised value of the piece. I don't know how many exist, but I am thinking there are 750 numbered pieces that are 3 dimensional. The reason that I like it so much is that it pops out at you. There are several layers to the thing. Tight. I also got two pieces that are of paris that are almost as cool. Paid 200 and they are valued at 1395. I can't wait to get them. I'm going to put the Ziff Martini piece in my basement somewhere. Paris? Not sure yet. I'll post pics of the placement when I get them. EDIT: Found them. They are by Francois Ledan. They are sister pieces so they have to go together. When together it looks as if you can see the Eifel tower and the chapel through the same window even though they are no where near each other. ChapelTowerReading up on the artists and the history can easily get addicting. Right now I'm facinated by the Devine Comedy series by Gustave Doré. |

I um...I uh...yeah...
Livejournal has become a gimmick to me. But I like gimmicks. I luhdadid you, LJ. Why can't I quit you? Now....that said. I feel like I'm in a rut. I'm like, man this comment is gold. I get nothing. I need to go out into the shaolin temple and revamp my game. But yeah...I'm...I'm back at it again. I'ma end up going out by myself tonight, but that's ok though. So I've been meaning to post some things about some things for a minute. Now...I'm all about touching as little as possible in the bathroom. I mean people ritualize this. Some folk come in with thier own potpourri cans. Others bless the toilet set before lining it with the toilet liner and then putting toilet paper on top. Some nasty muthafuckas just don't flush. I personally do not touch one thing inside the bathroom the entire time. All of this is cool. I understand and respect this. But there comes a point where you are just flat out disrespectful. When you feel like you are better than someone else when you think it's ok to just throw trash on the floor. See what happens is that people either wash their hands or dont....they take a paper towel to touch the door handle with and then once the door is opened they throw the paper towel on the floor. Bitch, who do you think has to clean that up? Julio spends his whole day cheery, smiling at people, sometimes a little inappropriate with the ladies has to clean that up. That tells me that your punk ass doesn't respect Julio enough as a man to throw away your own trash. That tells me you think that on a basic level you're better than Julio. That you're more valuable than Julio. That Julio doesn't matter. Fuck you. Take your own paper towels and throw them away. Disclaimer: Julio may or may not be his real name. |

So I deleted my account....
I was contemplating deleting all of my facebook/myspace/whatever stuff again. livejournal was the easiest first choice because blackfolk is boring and everyone else on the friends list barely updates anyway. Besides I didn't think anyone would notice. But that's the flaw of LJ. Everyone I have ever seen has written for their audience. Including me. I gave more insight into my life in this journal than I previously have but it was still written with ya'll in mind. Well ya'll aren't in mind anymore. So here is your chance to get out. I idea that people need to get their thoughts and "feelings" out has always been ridiculous to me. But I'm going to see how this works. So going forward entries will probably be nonsensical, lewd, odd, surprising, dull, whatever. But I am going to see what it's like to put my real thoughts and opinions down. So you have been warned. Trying a new experiment. So yeah...this will be the last entry with ya'll in mind. luh you |

Don't nobody better say nothin' bad about Obama
So...a community on LJ that I frequent posted the following pic  And a poll. Among the options were something along the lines of..."it's just whitefolk having fun"...and "it's offensive and us educated black people know it" Now, my first thought was wow....I find it kinda funny....Does that mean I'm uneducated? Or does that mean that somehow I'm a puppet for the man who has been brainwashed into not knowing any better? Or perhaps I'm just not all strung out on the notion of Obama to the point that I'm worried that any kind of depiction of the man that is not absolutely positive is some plot to turn the uneducated white people against him. It reminds me of...."Don't nobody better say nothin' bad about Ms. Jenkins" honestly. One of the prevalent arguements throughout the thread was....there's no context!!! Really?? Do you really need context when you see a picture of michelle obama holding and AK? Do you really need someone to explain this to you to see a picture of Osama or whoever that is supposed to be hanging up in the oval office of white house? Especially a man that has absolute no Muslim ties. Does it really need to be explained to you why the flag is burning in the fireplace? Anyone who has even been kind of paying attention gets what they were trying to do. Maybe it could've been executed better. But to be up in arms about this whole thing is ridiculous. To me this just says it goes both ways. The point of the whole thing is to show how this kind of imagery is used to stir up negative emotions to influence politics. The people that are all shook about this are also scared of how this very same mockery of an image can sway the dumb hillbillies into latching onto it and tarnish the golden boy.
